How to Check Land Records in Bangalore

Corruption is one of the greatest drawbacks of our economy and the revenue department is considered to be the main center for this malfeasance. The central and state government have come up with several initiatives to curb this issue of corruption. One of the most prominent efforts which are showing positive results is the initiative taken to digitize land records. Several digitization initiatives are taken by the government to ensure better maintenance of the land records. An example of a digitalization program includes the Digital India Land Record Modernization Programme (DILRMP) which was launched in 2008 to create transparency by computerizing land records, map digitization, conduction of surveys, etc.

Bhoomi: An aid and boom to the land record digitization project

The Bhoomi project introduced by the government of Karnataka is one of the most prominent initiatives taken by the state government as it was the first state to digitize all the land records. Wondering what Bhoomi is? It is an online platform that has been designed to issue RTC which is the Record to Rights, Tenancy, and Crops. You can also download details regarding the mutation status, extract, etc. and the project is funded jointly by the centers and the state government of Karnataka.

As a furtherance to this project, the government of Karnataka also issued a property card to every landowner. The card further authenticated or verified details such as the ownership details and confirmed its demarcation. Despite all these efforts, Bhoomi is not a 100% successful project as some are still not aware of the platform and the procedure to check and verify them online.

Steps to register yourself under the Bhoomi Portal

Some services provided by Bhoomi include I-Record of Rights, Tenancy and Crops (i-RTC), Mutation Register, RTC, Tippan, RTC Information, Mutation Status, and extract, Citizen Login, Register of Dispute Cases, List of New Taluks, etc. To avail the benefits of Bhoomi, you are required to register yourself under the Bhoomi Portal at first. Some of the steps for Bhoomi registration includes:

Step I: Visit the Bhoomi online portal

Step II: Click on the ‘Create Account’ icon and then you will be redirected to a sign-up page.

Step III: You are required to provide all the necessary details and then enter the Captcha code so provided.

Step IV: After entering all the necessary details, you are required to click on the ‘submit’ option to complete your registration process in the Bhoomi Portal.

Listed below are some of the steps you should take to download documents using the portal.

Step to download property documents using Bhoomi

Isn’t it always better to get all your property documents from one place rather than running from pillar to pillar? One of the best ways to get the verified documents of your properties using Bhoomi has been mentioned below:

Step I: Log into the official website of the Karnataka government.

Step II: Click on Bhoomi from the project tab and then click on the ‘Citizen Service’ Tab.

Step III: Click on ‘IRTC’ and then enter all your details. You may enter all the details such as the first and the last name, your 10 digits mobile number, valid email id, and your Aadhaar card details.

Step IV: Enter land details such as the district, taluk, hobli, village, survey number, surnoc, etc.

Step V: You may then click on the ‘view RTC’ option or ‘Pay and download’ option and if you are opting for the ‘pay and download option’ then select the credit/ debit credit options.

Step VI: Then you may download the PDF and then take a printout.

    What is RTC?

The RTC also called Pahani is the Record of Rights, tenancy and is an important land record document provided to the existing landowners. It contains all the details of the property and includes:

    1. Details of its ownership
    2. Type of land, the area, water rate, soil type, etc.
    3. Tenancy and the nature of possession
    4. Financial liabilities of the property such as bank loans, etc.

    Bottom Line

The fact that India is going digital is not something new. Thus the Karnataka government has come up with an online platform named ‘Bhoomi’ for landowners and farmers whereby they can check their land records using the easy online medium. One of the most important benefits of Bhoomi is that it enables citizens to verify and authenticate their property which may be lying across or anywhere in Karnataka. It enables the citizens to check the legal status of their property by sitting in the comforts of their homes. Thus, this is one important step taken towards digitalization in our country.
